Up and Over Garage Doors are simple to use, affordable and easy to maintain.  If you  choose a Canopy Up and Over Garage Door (Canopy Gear), the door panel lifts vertically on tracks on the side frame and a spring assembly on the frame head.  When the Garage Door is open, the door panel creates a slight overhang, approximately a third of the door protrudes outwards forming a Canopy - hence the name Canopy garage Door. As there are no tracks running back into the garage when the door is closed, the roof space is clear which can then be used for storage. 

Retractable Garage Doors

 A Retractable Garage Door (Retractable Gear),  so called because the door panel retracts fully into the garage when the Garage Door is open.   A Retractable Garage Door runs on vertical tracks which extend into the roof space of the garage.  The disadvantage of a Retractable Garage Door is that the drive through width is reduced as the lifting arms sit between the sub frame when the door is open.  However, if the garage is not used to house your car, a Retractable Garage Door is perfectly adequate for most.
